On the environment, Limits to Growth is the most important I’ve read.

Note a major shortcoming in what you said: “we just have to develop the political will,” which we’ve been saying for over fifty years. I suggest that while more science won’t hurt, meaningful change will come from people learning and applying leadership based on that science, not spreading more science. Facts rarely change people’s behavior. Telling a smoker more about lung cancer will rarely work as well as leading that person, which usually involves support, stories, role models, and other leadership tools.

Limits to Growth is definitely one I want to read, and I hope to make another blog post on more recommended books soon, so hopefully that one will get included!

An excellent point! I’m still learning a lot about leadership. To me, management is the easier part: research what is good to do, then tell people to do it. But the leadership part is hard. How do you lead people in a YouTube video? Or a blog post? It’s one of the things I’m eager to hear more about from you! Maybe after I read your book I’ll have a little more insight!

Thanks for watching and commenting! If you remember, this (in blog post form) was the post I posted the day we initially connected on Twitter and you recommended both Limits to Growth and Countdown, which are both still on my To-Read list today!
