The Arrogance of Man

The Arrogance of Man

We’ve become arrogant.

We’ve come to a point where we believe we have conquered nature, and nature bends to our will.

But we have not.

Increasingly strong heatwaves, hurricanes, and wildfires are mother nature’s warnings: we are not above nature.

These are warning shots compared to what’s coming.

And if we don’t fix the damage we’ve done, mother nature won’t allow us to live on this planet anymore.

Ultimately, we are animals. We think of ourselves above all other species because we’ve made machines and technology that other species cannot. But we are still just animals, made of flesh and blood, and intricately connected with nature, just as every tree, stone, and animal is.

Every action we take has an effect on every other thing on this world, living and non-living. And until now, we’ve taken greedily for ourselves. We’ve pillaged the earth’s resources for our own good.

And mother nature has had enough.

She’s now taking warning shots; warning us that she will put us in our place if she must. It’s time to take responsibility for the damage we’ve done. It’s time to grow and find a new balance with nature: a way of living that is at peace with mother nature. A way of living that is sustainable and does minimal harm to nature and our animal brethren.

Will the world after climate change still have humans in it? We get to make that choice right now.

We must bring the human race into balance with nature, because if we don’t, mother nature will find a way to balance the planet for us. And there are no promises that the human race will still exist in that new world balance.
