Failure

Failure

I failed!

I’ve already failed to do what I promised myself in one month: blog once a week. I only blogged 3 times in February.

And speaking honestly, while not totally unexpected, I feel disappointed in myself. It certainly happened sooner than I expected it to.

Failure is seen as a negative thing, but it’s necessary for growth. Growth without failure is impossible. The best things in life will come from lots of failing.

But it’s these times that are the most important when you take on something new and challenging.

You don’t get to Carnegie Hall by quitting piano practice because you missed a note.

You don’t get become a high percentage shooter in basketball untill you’ve missed a LOT of shots.

You don’t get to living sustainably and influencing others to do the same by giving up because you missed a blog post.

Turning Failure into Success

I thought about it and what I realized is…No one’s figured out how to live sustainably in the modern world yet.

Out of 8 billion people…Not one.

What percentage of the population is living sustainably?

Certainly not in any first world country. Certainly not here in the USA, where we have the most polluting people on the planet.

Further, no one’s even figured out how to convince the bulk of the human population that we have to live sustainably, or how to lead lead them to action and show them it’s a life that’s more joyful, fulfilling, and happy, despite being hard.

I’m literally doing something that has been impossible before now. Something that no one has ever done before.

So it’s okay. It doesn’t matter that I failed. I’m destined to fail. I’m going to fail again. What matters is that I don’t give up because I failed. The more failures I have, the closer I will get to success.

I feel like it’s important to post this. It’s important that I recognize where and when I failed and rather than be embarrassed or ashamed of it, instead, own it and use it to grow.

Failure is just a stepping stone to success.

Because of this…No…thanks to this, I will continue to grow. Because of this failure I will be better in the future.

Life Update

Recently, my posts have been a lot less about sustainability and more about getting into the right mindset. I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about long term goals and how to achieve them. Working a full time job while still trying to maintain my online store, blog, social media, and trying to get my YouTube channel started up again is super challenging. But it’s about time to go back to covering sustainability! My goal is to become a platform that helps you get into the right mindset to start driving changes in your own life to be more sustainable. And from now on, I’ll be much more focused on that. Thanks for sticking with me.
